Sarnia police seize drugs, bear mace

Two people are facing drug and weapon charges after Sarnia police conducted a traffic stop and searched a Marcin Road residence.

Major Case Action Team (MCAT) officers pulled over a vehicle on March 27 that was allegedly involved in criminal activity.

Police said two occupants were arrested and a search of the vehicle turned up quantities of crack cocaine, cash, and drug paraphernalia consistent with trafficking.

MCAT, the Emergency Response Team (ERT), and K9 Units then searched the home and allegedly discovered more drugs and bear mace.

Police said 216.79 grams of cocaine, 0.19 grams of methamphetamine, and $1,710 were seized.

The estimated value of the drugs is about $22,000.

A 34-year-old and a 38-year-old are each charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime (cash), and possession of a prohibited weapon. Charges against the accused have not been proven in court.

Police said the circumstances in which a person is found in possession of animal self-defence products will determine if an offence is committed.
