Sarnia police arrest man for fentanyl possession

A 40-year-old man is being charged by Sarnia police for allegedly having fentanyl in his possession.

At around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, officers were in a retail parking lot on Exmouth Street when they saw a man acting suspiciously.

They started to talk to him and realized he was clenching his left hand. When they asked him to show what was in his hand, the man showed what appeared to be a rock of blue fentanyl.

The man allegedly attempted to get rid of the drugs but was ultimately placed under arrest.

A search later found around another 23 grams of fentanyl, drug trafficking paraphernalia, and cash.

The man has since been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and breaching his probation.
