Do Lunch with the Humane Society

The Sarnia and District Humane Society is taking orders for its second annual 'Let's Do Lunch' fundraiser.

Capital Campaign Coordinator Dana Piggot said the inaugural event sold out.

"It was a huge hit the first year," said Piggot. "We were pleasantly surprised, we sold out much earlier then expected last year and we had many requests to bring it back."

Piggot said money raised will go towards caring for the animals that go through their doors including food and other supplies.

The fundraiser features three Red & Ko Sammies, the Red's Slammin' Sammie, The Italiano, and Red's Chickpea Crunch for $15.

Orders are roughly 40 per cent sold out.

"It's a maximum amount that we're able to handle," said Red & Ko Owner Steph Purdy. "Last year we agreed to 750 and we did 928."

Orders for the lunches are due on Wednesday, April 23 and can be placed online through the Sarnia Humane Society's website. Organizers recommend getting them in early.

"There's the date deadline, but there's a quantity deadline as well, so we only have a capacity, so it's whichever comes first, so don't count on that April 23," said Purdy.

Pick up day is May 13 at the Point Edward Optimist Hall from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
