UPDATE: Traffic lights damaged in rollover crash

A single-vehicle rollover crash in Sarnia early Monday morning sent one person to hospital.

A vehicle slammed into the traffic lights at the intersection of Finch Drive and Wellington Street at about 4:40 a.m. and rolled, landing on its roof on the boulevard.

Sarnia police said several traffic signals were damaged and left inoperable. Power was knocked out to customers in the Sherwood Village area for just over three hours.

Due to the extent of the damage, the intersection was expected to be closed for several hours while Bluewater Power made the necessary repairs.

Police said the 57-year-old male driver and lone occupant sustained minor injuries and was taken to hospital with a small facial fracture.

Sarnia Fire Rescue and Lambton EMS also responded.

The investigation is ongoing.
