Drug charges laid in Aamjiwnaang shooting case

Sarnia police have laid drug trafficking charges against a 32-year-old man from Aamjiwnaang First Nation, who is accused of shooting another man through both legs.

The shooting, which police said appeared to be unintentional, happened on White Circle at around 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The 30-year-old victim was severely injured, and is still in London hospital in stable condition.

The Sarnia Police Service Criminal Investigations Division executed a search warrant at the home, with help from the Forensic Identifications Branch, the Emergency Response Team and the K-9 Unit.

Police said the following items were seized:

- A loaded Glock 9mm handgun

- A 10 round capacity magazine, loaded with 9 rounds, seated in the gun. (prohibited)

- Additional 9mm rounds

- A spent 9mm shell casing

- 15.3 grams of crystal methamphetamine

- 23.7 grams of cocaine

- 13 oxycodone pills (homemade pressed to look like oxycodone - likely containing fentanyl)

- $2,440 Canadian currency

- Drug trafficking paraphernalia

Police said several homemade pills are being sent to Health Canada for testing and identification.

Terrance Nahmabin, 32, is charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, breaching probation and breaching recognizance.

He's also facing 11 firearms-related charges including assault with a weapon, pointing a firearm, careless use of a firearm, and unlawful storage.

Nahmabin has not been released after being remanded into custody following his initial bail hearing.
