Sarnia police have arrested a man in connection with a sexual assault involving a 14-year-old girl.
Police said the victim was walking in the downtown core on the evening of Sunday, April 27 when she encountered a man she had previously had minor, informal, interactions with, but still considered a stranger.
It's alleged the male suspect threatened the teen with a knife, led her to a secluded area and sexually assaulted her.
Based on a description provided to police by the victim, officers were able to quickly identify and arrest the suspect on Wednesday, April 30.
Police said Dario 'Alex' Gonzales, 47, of no fixed address is charged with forcible confinement, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, sexual assault with a weapon, invitation to sexual touching, uttering threats to cause death, assault with a weapon, and sexual interference.
The accused was held for bail.
The charges have not been proven in court.
