High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

Lambton County Ontario Provincial Police says the Point Edward detachment will be open during construction in the area.Construction on St. Clair Avenue is expected to last approximately one month.Access to the building and the area may be temporarily affected.Members of the public seeking non-emergency assistance are advised to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.The detachment will be open its regular hours, Monday to Friday 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.Motorists are reminded to use caution while in the construction zone, to obey all signage and to remain alert for workers and equipment.
