High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

A once popular Sarnia restaurant will be torn down.The Chipican, which first opened its doors in 1948, has been fenced off and demolition is imminent. The City of Sarnia confirmed a demolition permit has been issued for the property.The Chipican Restaurant was renamed the Lake Point Grillhouse and Lounge in 2018, with hopes of breathing new life into the Christina Street site.  It closed in 2021 due to the pandemic.Since then it has been sitting empty.<img src="https://media.mynewstoday.ca/i/X94P7Y9B/740" alt="Former Chipican Restaurant.
