Vidalia onion fundraiser sells out on first day

The Lambton Shrine Club is thanking those who supported an annual fundraiser after the Vidalia onions sold out in record time.

Ten pound bags were sold under the Blue Water Bridge on Wednesday for $20 each.

Club member Rob Donald said the goal was to raise $10,000 for children's hospitals.

The fundraiser was scheduled to run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, as well as the following days until the onions sold out.

Last year, the onions sold out by noon on the third day.

Donald said on Wednesday, people started lining up at 8:45 a.m. and the onions sold out by 3:30 p.m.
