Gala for H.O.P.E. to cruise along Sarnia's waterfront

Theatre Sarnia has launched a fundraising gala to be held on the Duc d'Orleans II this summer, in memory of a theatre member and former employee of the Inn of the Good Shepherd.

Gala for H.O.P.E. is part of Anthony’s H.O.P.E. (Helping Other People Eat), an annual initiative to collect items for the food bank.

The initiative was launched in memory of Anthony Fracalanza, who passed away in 2020.

“This event honours Anthony’s legacy of kindness and service,” said Imperial Theatre Executive Director Brian Austin Jr. in a statement. “We're thrilled to bring the community together in a new way — on the water — to celebrate his memory and continue his work of helping others.”

The cruise is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 4. Boarding at Front Street North will begin shortly after 6 p.m., and the Duc will depart at 7 p.m.

For three hours, guests will enjoy live entertainment, light snacks, a cash bar, and a 50/50 draw.

"It'll be an evening cruise on the river, so anybody on the boat will have a front row seat for the July 4th fireworks coming from Port Huron," said Inn Executive Director Myles Vanni. "So that's going to be a really fun part of the event."

Tickets are $35 per person and can be purchased through Imperial Theatre's website.

Proceeds will support Theatre Sarnia's youth program and The Inn of the Good Shepherd's food bank.

“Whether you're a longtime supporter or new to Theatre Sarnia, this is a perfect opportunity to enjoy a beautiful evening, support youth in the arts, and help feed those in need,” said Austin Jr.

Non-perishable items will be collected before the cruise begins.
