Those who frequent Sarnia's Germain Park are being advised of some disruptions to parking.
The northernmost portion of the east parking lot is closed this week to allow for the installation of a sewer force main as part of the Minto Street and Germain Street Reconstruction Project.
The City of Sarnia said the partial parking lot closure will facilitate the initial phases of horizontal drilling and force main installation under the park.
The $3.5 million flood-mitigation project will see one kilometre of force main replaced under the park to capitalize on increased capacity at the Mayfair Pumping station, as well as expanded storm and sanitary sewers installed in the area.
Work also includes new water main, road surface, sidewalk and curbs.
A small number of parking spaces as well as the tennis courts will be impacted while work is completed.
The city said work is expected to take about a week to complete, weather permitting.
Parking at the south lot off of Bright Street at Sycamore Drive and at the west lot off of East Street near the Strangway Community Centre are not affected.
