Chris Hadfield, Bandella return to Sarnia stage

Sarnia's Chris Hadfield and a group of fellow retired astronauts and musicians with ties to NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) are set to put on an 'out of this world' show at Imperial Theatre this summer.

The musical group Bandella is scheduled to perform at the downtown theatre on Saturday, August 16 at 7:30 p.m.

The last time the band performed at the Sarnia theatre was in July 2018, and tickets sold out "in record time."

"It's a band made up entirely of astronauts which, if that's not cool enough, they perform in front of projections of photos they took in outer space," said Imperial Theatre Executive Director Brian Austin Jr. "It really is just a wonderful, magical night. There's so much insight and the stories they tell are just wonderful."

Bandella was formed in 2003 in Star City, Russia. Its genre of music blends folk, Canadiana, bluegrass, and jazz.

The band includes retired astronauts Hadfield, Cady Coleman, Steve Robinson, Ken Cockrell, Dan Burbank, and vocalist Micki Pettit.

Those who purchase VIP tickets will be able to meet the band before the show.

"They did that last time as well," said Austin Jr. "It's a pre-show meet and greet where you get to ask questions of the performers and gain insight into their experience, not just in space, but in their careers in general."

Tickets will go on sale on Thursday, June 12 and can be purchased online at imperialtheatre.net.

General admission prices are $40 and VIP tickets are $65.
