Alleged impaired driver accused of assault after collision

A 32-year-old Sarnia man is facing several charges for allegedly driving into a parked vehicle while impaired and getting into a dispute with a witness.

Lambton OPP said the driver struck an unoccupied parked car near Cameron Street and Murray Street in Corunna on June 9 at 9:10 p.m.

Police said the driver failed to remain at the scene and was approached by a witness.

An altercation was reported, however, there were no injuries.

OPP said the man was arrested and charged with assault, dangerous driving, failure to stop after a collision, operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration 80 plus.

He was issued a 90-day licence suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on July 8.
