Emergency crews remove baby from locked vehicle

Summer weather is here, and with that comes reminders not to leave children or pets unattended in hot vehicles.

Emergency crews were called Wednesday evening for that reason. Point Edward Fire and Rescue, Lambton Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), and Lambton EMS responded to an area under the Blue Water Bridge at around 5:30 p.m. to remove an infant from a locked vehicle.

Fire officials reported that firefighters were able to quickly get into the vehicle without causing any damage.

The baby was turned over to EMS to be checked out. No injuries were reported.

First responders add that if you do spot a child or an animal locked inside a vehicle and they appear to be in distress, it is an emergency, and you should call 911.
