Wanted man found during morning patrol

Sarnia police have arrested a wanted man who was found while officers were patrolling the Laurel Lea area on Sunday.

Police said several people were seen littering in a vacant lot at Exmouth Street and Copland Road at around 8 a.m.

Eight people tried to leave and refused to speak with police.

One person allegedly gave police a fake name, but officers identified him as a 37-year-old man who was wanted for causing a disturbance and failing to comply with probation.

He was taken into custody and held for bail.

The other seven people cleaned up their trash, which included beer cans, and left the area.

“Officers have been diligently dedicating time to increase proactive visibility in this area," said Police Chief Derek Davis in a media release. "This includes foot and bike patrols, as calls for service and resources permit. So far in 2025, our officers have dedicated 370 hours to this area alone, resulting in 22 arrests and 65 charges."

Davis said the service expects patrols to continue throughout the summer as they address social disorder issues across the city.
