Man charged in early morning robbery

A 28-year-old man was arrested in a robbery early Thursday morning at a Sarnia convenience store.

Police were called to the store at the intersection of Indian Road and Confederation Street just before 5:30 a.m.

A man had allegedly demanded money from the register and was seen with an object in his hand, but it was unclear what it was.

The clerk was allegedly chased around the store but was able to lock himself into another room shortly after while waiting for police.

Police learned the suspect took off but he was located on Borden Street after a search.

Officers found a makeshift weapon that had allegedly been brandished during the incident.

Christopher Allingham is charged with robbery, two counts of breach of probation and wearing a disguise.

He has been held for bail.
