Fundraising dog festival goes country

The seventh annual dog festival, held in support of the Sarnia and District Humane Society, will have a country twist.

The Fox and Hound Canine Retreat will host the Barks & Boots: Dogs Gone Country event, along with Coldwell Banker Southwest Realty, on Saturday, June 21, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

Owner Katie Fuller said there will be live music, kids' activities, performances by the Cutting-Edge Cowgirls, and a demonstration at 12 p.m. by Sarnia police's new Canine Unit.

The Ultimutts Stunt Dog Show will also showcase "four-legged daredevils" during three different show times at 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:15 p.m.

For the dogs, there will be off-leash zones, dock diving, a puppy ice cream station, and pet adoptions.

Further details about the festival can be found on the event's Facebook page.

Tickets will be available at the gate for $10 per person, kids 12 and under and dogs can enter for free. Tickets can also be purchased through the humane society's website.

Fuller said machines will be available for entry; however, some vendors may not have debit machines so guests are encouraged to bring cash.

Over 30 vendors will be at the event, including Black Gold Brewery, Dark Horse Estate Winery, Two Amigos, and Nice Cream.

The Fox and Hound Canine Retreat is located at 2437 Michigan Line in Bright's Grove.
