High levels of air pollution are possible this afternoon.

An AIR QUALITY WARNING is in place due to the possibility of deteriorating air quality. Hot and sunny conditions are expected to cause increasing ground-level ozone concentrations this afternoon. Moderate risk AQHI values are expected throughout the day with the potential of short-term high risk AQHI values in the afternoon.

When air pollution levels are high, everyone should limit time outdoors. Consider reducing or rescheduling outdoor sports, activities and events.

You may experience mild and common symptoms such as eye, nose and throat irritation, headaches or a mild cough. More serious but less common symptoms include wheezing, chest pains or severe cough. If you think you are having a medical emergency, seek immediate medical assistance.

People more likely to be impacted by outdoor air pollution, including people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, infants and young children, people with an existing illness or chronic health condition, and people who work outdoors, should reduce or reschedule strenuous activities outdoors and seek medical attention if experiencing symptoms.

An alleged drunk driver took out a gas meter early Tuesday morning in Sarnia.City police and Sarnia Fire Rescue responded to reports of a possible gas leak at a home on Queen Street near Wellington Street at around 12:50 a.m.Police said a vehicle had struck a gas meter on the side of a house, and officers arrived to the audible sounds of gas escaping.While speaking with the driver, officers alleged they were displaying signs of intoxication by alcohol and arrested.The 29-year-old driver provided breath samples nearly twice the legal limit.They were charged with impaired driving, the vehicle was impounded for seven days and their licence suspended for 90 days.Police said the gas leak was contained, and there was no additional property damage reported.
