OPP canine helps track impaired driving suspect

Lambton OPP say they arrested an impaired driver on Canada Day with help from the Canine Unit.

At around 11:10 p.m., officers were called to a single-vehicle crash on Courtright Line, near Sutorville Road.

Police said the vehicle left the roadway and struck a tree, and was unoccupied when they arrived on scene.

The Emergency Response Team, and tracker dog, found the suspect nearby and he was arrested.

There were no injuries reported.

A 21-year-old from Oil Springs is charged with operation while impaired by drugs and alcohol, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and failing to remain.

Police said the accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on August 4.

Anyone with information regarding this or any other incident is asked to call the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
