Charges have been laid in connection with a fire earlier this month.
Sarnia Fire Rescue responded to a blaze at an unoccupied house on Confederation Street near Murphy Road, at around 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 13.
It's alleged firefighters on scene could smell an odour of gasoline.
The blaze caused significant damage to the homes interior, and investigators determined the fire appeared to be intentionally set.
During its probe, the Sarnia Police Criminal Investigations Division located evidence of a person bringing what resembled a gas can to the home just before the fire started.
Further evidence of a hot plate plugged into a timer was also found at the origin sight.
A 49-year-old Sarnia man has been arrested and is charged with arson--damage to property.
He's scheduled to appear in Sarnia court August 12.
Sarnia police said a damage estimate is still be assessed and no injuries were reported in the fire.
