Local fundraiser celebrates Christmas in July

It's Christmas in July, at least in the Village of Point Edward.

The Point Edward Optimist Hall will be transformed into a winter wonderland this weekend.

Organizer Stacy Bourke said money raised will support River City Vineyard and Heaven's Hands.

"So we are just trying to do good in our community," said Bourke. "This is our start, this is our premiere event. We're an event company and that's what we want to do is help people within the Sarnia community."

Organizer James Letourneau said there will be food, games, vendors, and live music, as well as an appearance from Santa on Saturday afternoon from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

The two-day event will kick off on Friday, July 25 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. and continue Saturday from 12 p.m. until 11 p.m.

Tickets are $10 and available at the door or in advance at Giresi's Pizza and the Overflow Cafe.

Kids 12 and under are free.
