Man arrested after cutting off ankle monitor

Sarnia Police arrested a 31-year-old man after he allegedly cut off his ankle monitor.

Just before midnight on Tuesday, July 22 police were notified the monitor had been tampered with.

Officers attended the location and discovered it had been discarded in a parking lot.

Police learned the man's bail conditions included a curfew of 11 p.m. and he had to stay at the Exmouth Street shelter.

When officers arrived at the location and discovered he was not there.

On Friday, July 23 just after 10:45 a.m. police saw the man walking on Exmouth Street.

The officer approached him where he attempted to take off but after a brief chase he was quickly arrested.

He was charged with three counts of fail to comply with a release order.

Two men arrested in Tashmoo Ave. standoff

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
