Weapon charges laid in warrant arrest

A 37-year-old man faces weapons charges after Sarnia police arrested him on several outstanding warrants.

On Wednesday, July 23 at 2:30 p.m. an officer saw a man riding a bike on the sidewalk in the area of Brock Street South and Davis Street.

While the man was stopped and placed under arrest the officer allegedly saw a concealed knife in the bicycle seat.

Police said the knife was concealed in a way the blade portion was not visible, even without anyone on the bike.

The knife was allegedly placed to make it readily accessible to access even while operating the bike.

Officers said at the time of the arrest he was under a judicial release order with conditions to not possess any weapons.

The man is charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon and fail to comply with a judicial release order.
