Woman charged with stealing twice in just over 24 hours

A woman was allegedly arrested for stealing by Sarnia police on back-to-back days.

Shortly after midnight on Saturday, an officer was called to a convenience store on Christina Street. They were told that a woman stole from the business, with the officer identifying her after reviewing security photos.

Around an hour later, police were called back to the store as the woman had reportedly returned. Officers attempted to arrest her, however, she allegedly refused to get into the police cruiser. Police say she kept kicking and pushing herself out.

The woman was eventually subdued after the officers were forced to use physical force.

She was charged with theft, resisting a police officer, and breaching probation.

The next day, police were called to a grocery store on Exmouth Street and Indian Road.

Officers found the same woman being detained by security after allegedly being caught stealing. The security officer was reportedly spit on.

She was charged with assault, theft, and breaching probation.
