Bluewater Health launching spooky fall fundraiser

Bluewater Health will celebrate Halloween a little early this year.

The hospital foundation is launching a new fundraiser, called Monster's Ball, in support of diagnostic imaging at Bluewater Health.

Foundation Executive Director Kathy Alexander said the 19+ event will be held at DeGroot's Nurseries and will feature raffles, specialty spooky cocktails, prizes for best costume, and a video dance party.

"It's going to be so much fun," said Alexander. "We're really excited to bring a new event to the community. There's so many great events that happen across our community, so trying to find something that's new and unique and different that people will want to support, in support of a very important cause in our community."

Alexander said money raised from the Halloween themed event will go towards the purchase of new technology and equipment for diagnostic imaging, which every department in the hospital relies on.

"All the department's at Bluewater Health are very, very special and very important but I would say that diagnostic imaging truly is the heart, or the hub of the hospital," she said. "The modalities that they provide to patients from across Lambton County are so important from CTs, x-rays, MRIs, ultrasounds, they do it all."

In a news release from Bluewater Health, Radiologist and Medical Director of Diagnostic Imaging Dr. Youssef Almalki said diagnostic imaging is a cornerstone of modern medicine.

"Diagnostic imaging provides clinicians with critical insights that inform timely diagnoses and treatment decisions," said Dr. Almalki. "Investments in this area result in accurate diagnoses directly improving patient outcomes, reducing wait times, and enhancing the quality of care we provide."

The inaugural Monster's Ball will be held on Friday, October 17.

Tickets are $75 and available online through www.revelree.ca.
