Sarnia City Hall has released the building statistics for July, and the numbers are lagging slightly behind June.
A total of 52 permits were issued last month, totalling to $10.48 million in value.
There were three permits issued for single-family dwellings in July, bringing the year-to-date total for new homes to 10.
July's numbers were boosted by $2.34 million for renovations at Northern Collegiate High School, $2 million for a new institutional building at Lambton College, and $1.4 million for a new industrial building at 989 Atkin Ave.
There were 47 permits issued in June, which added up to $24.2 million.
The June total was helped along by a $14 million permit for the development of an apartment building at 471 Kathleen Avenue, near Indian Road.
Year-over-year construction activity is slightly slower with a total of 246 permits issued so far in 2025, compared to 266 during the same time frame in 2024.
The year to date total is sitting at $61,252,773, which is down from last year's mark of $112,763,288 through seven months.
