Police arrest wanted suspects in proactive blitz

Sarnia police arrested 10 people, wanted on outstanding warrants, during a recent city-wide blitz.

The proactive measure was undertaken by the Offender Management Unit (OMU).

The suspects, ranging in age from 34 to 57 years old, were taken into custody on a variety of charges.

Geoffrey Meredith, 57, was wanted on a bench warrant for assault, and mischief under.

Brandon Little, 42, had an outstanding warrant for assault, mischief under $5,000, uttering threats to cause death and two counts of disobeying a court order.

Other charges laid ranged from theft to breach of probation, and failing to appear for finger printing.

Police said the OMU was created to address high risk offenders, outstanding arrest warrants, and to ensure compliance with court imposed conditions.

OMU works within the Crime and Intelligence Unit, sharing information with outside agencies and internally to members.
