Significant upgrades are underway at Sarnia's Clearwater Arena as part of the city's master plan for the facility.
The arena is closed as of this week to facilitate new rink boards, glass and netting for the blue rink, new rubber flooring throughout the facility and cosmetic improvements like painting.
Crews will also be doing dressing room improvements, specifically flooring, fixture updates and shower upgrades, building envelope improvements, and HVAC alterations to accommodate future improvements.
The city is investing $1.8 million into Clearwater Arena in 2025, as efforts continue to revitalize and improve recreational infrastructure.
The closure is expected to last until September 4, ahead of the fall ice season.
The Clearwater Library Branch will remain open and accessible through its separate entrance.
