Sarnia police looking for man who allegedly rented Sea-Doo to enter US

An investigation is underway after a Toronto man allegedly rented a Sea-Doo in Sarnia and used it to enter the U.S.

Police say 40-year-old Romeo Bajrami rented a jet ski Saturday evening.

He reportedly paid to use the Sea-Doo for an hour on the St. Clair River, but after he didn't return, the renters called him. It's alleged he answered the call, claiming he was 10 minutes away; however, he never showed up.

After a couple more hours of waiting, the renters called the police.

A few hours later, the U.S. Coast Guard found the Sea-Doo on the American shore of the St. Clair River. They reportedly also found the shirt Bajrami was wearing when he rented the jet ski.

U.S. Customs and Immigration were notified and are investigating, while Sarnia Police have issued an arrest warrant for Bajrami for theft of a motor vehicle.
