Kids Funfest to take over Canatara Park

A day of fun, learning, and community connections is planned at Canatara Park on Saturday.

Kids Funfest will be held in the open field on August 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

City of Sarnia Recreation Coordinator Sean Hanlon said it's the second year they've held the event in August at the park.

"This event brings out a series of different community businesses, organizations and clubs that provide services to children and their families to assist with learning, creativity and keeping kids active," said Hanlon.

He said about 20 vendors are signed up to participate.

"We also have some other groups signed up for the 'Touch A Truck'. Sarnia Police Services will be there, Sarnia Fire, we'll have the Marcotte garbage truck and Wight Bus Lines will be there as well with a school bus," said Hanlon.

Other highlights include inflatables, balloon twisting, top shot hockey, dog training, face painting, and an archery training station.

"There will be activity booths throughout the open field. Each booth is asked to provide an interactive activity for kids," Hanlon said. "So, there will be a variety of activities, from games [to] arts and crafts. So it's just a great opportunity for kids to attend the event and try something new."

Live entertainment, including juggling performances and comedy magic shows, is also planned at the bandshell.
