UPDATE: Youth rugby medals found

Sarnia police say the youth rugby medals that were reported stolen have been located.

The Sarnia Saints Rugby Football Club recently ordered 70 custom-gold coloured medals with black ribbons to hand out to team members.

The awards were scheduled to be delivered to the club on Tuesday, August 12.

Sarnia police said on that date, a unknown person with no affiliation with the rugby club, received the package from the courier service and left with them.

An individual reached out to police and said the medals were mistakenly received by a different Sarnia sports club.

After a plea on social media, the other club was alerted of the error after seeing the plea for public assistance on social media.

The medals have since been returned.

Sarnia police is thanking the public for their assistance.
