Sarnia welcomes new family physician

It's welcome news for those without a family physician.

A new doctor is setting up his practice in Sarnia.

Dr. Shahbaz Malik's office will be located within the Rapids Family Health Team on Pontiac Drive and he's already accepting patients.

Dr. Malik has lived in Sarnia for the past five years with his wife, while he completed his residency training at the Central Lambton Family Health Team in Petrolia.

He is the 56th physician recruited to Sarnia-Lambton by the Blue Coast Primary Care Recruitment and Retention team.

Patients wishing to register with Dr. Malik can email ccox@bluecoastprimarycare.com for an electronic patient information form or visit the Rapids Family Health Team.

“We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Malik to our community of physicians,” said Blue Coast recruiter, Carly Cox in a news release. “His dedication to patients has been witnessed throughout his residency in Petrolia and his established ties to Sarnia make him a welcome and much-needed addition to our primary care team”.

The group recently announced it would be dissolving at the end of the month after 24 years, citing a lack of funding.
