Alleged porch pirate charged

A 37-year-old woman was arrested after she was allegedly caught stealing a package off of a porch.

Sarnia police allege on Thursday, July 31 at around 11 a.m. a woman was captured on video stealing a package containing $170 worth of children's clothing from a Johnson Street home.

Police said three weeks later on Friday, August 22, an officer observed the woman outside of a restaurant on Christina Street.

She is charged with theft under $5,000 and failing to comply with a probation order.

The woman was released from custody with conditions.

Police believe there may be additional theft victims.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
