Storm leaves Sarnia customers without power

Thousands were without power in Sarnia because of a severe thunderstorm that rumbled through the area.

Bluewater Power dealt with a number of lightening and storm related outages from 9 p.m. Saturday night to after midnight Sunday morning.

Over 4,300 customers were impacted with most with their power back on before 1 a.m.

Meanwhile, customers impacted by the largest outage had their power turned back on just after 2:20 a.m.

This was caused by equipment breakage.

On Saturday, Environment Canada issued a severe thunderstorm warning when conditions were favourable for strong wind gusts and large hail.

Bluewater Power said while all residential customers were back on three commercial buildings will remain off until repairs are completed in the area.
