Person bit by unaccompanied dog in Sarnia

The health unit is reaching out to the public for help in finding a dog and its owner after a person was bitten near Clearwater Community Centre Park.

Lambton Public Health (LPH) said the dog biting incident happened on Friday, August 22, at around 10:30 p.m. on Wellington Street in Sarnia.

The large dog was described as having brown or tan fur.

The dog did not appear to have a collar and the owner was not present.

Anyone with information about where the dog is and its owner is asked to contact LPH at 519-383-8331 extension 3812 or toll-free at 1-800-667-1839.

If the dog's health status isn't verified, LPH said the victim will need to receive post-exposure rabies shots.
