Charges laid in Alvinston arson investigation

One person has been charged in an ongoing investigation after a structure fire was reported this past weekend in Alvinston.

Lambton OPP said emergency crews were called to a residence on Morrell Street shortly after 5 p.m. on Saturday, August 23.

Police said the fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported.

On Monday, August 25, at around 1 a.m., police said two people went to the Morrell Street property, which resulted in a disturbance.

A 63-year-old Brooke-Alvinston resident was arrested and charged with arson - damage to property, and uttering threats. The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Sarnia on September 29.

Lambton OPP is asking the public to check their video surveillance for any suspicious activity along Morrell Street and in the surrounding area, during the afternoon and evening hours of August 23, and the early morning hours of August 25.
