New Marine 1 assists in rescue

Sarnia's new fire vessel went on its first rescue.

On Saturday, August 30 Sarnia Fire Rescue responded to a report of a boat that had lost power approximately 100 feet off of Murphy Beach.

Fire crews learned one occupant on board required medical attention.

At the time, Sarnia's Marine 1, which is not officially in service was on the water for some operational training.

Marine 1 joined Marine 2 and 3 in responding.

When it arrived, it was determined Marine 1 would help the disabled vessel to a safe location, allowing the patient to receive medical care.

Sarnia fire said the new vessel performed exceptionally well.
