Sarnia Transit passes will be getting a makeover
The city has launched a contest to find images and art by local residents to feature on the different passes and promotional materials
Sarnia's Communications Manager Steve Henschel said the theme of the contest is 'Your Sarnia, Your Transit'.
"It was very much just generated by our Transit Team," said Henschel. "They were looking at our passes out right now, they have a picture of a bus on them. And they just came up with the idea that maybe they could engage with the community a little bit, have this fun contest where people could submit their art and have it featured on our passes. Just kind of a way to beautify the passes, while at the same time for Sarnia Transit to engage with the community."
Henschel said they're looking for images that represent the community and transit system, as well as seasonal events.
"The contest is open to all ages and skill levels," said Henschel. "I know we said artists, but it's really just anybody who has a bit of creative flair who really want to show us what they got in terms of their creativity."
Online submissions will be accepted until 4 p.m. on Wednesday, October 1 through the Speak Up Sarnia website.
Henschel said submitted artwork will then be reviewed by Sarnia Transit staff.
"We actually have a number of transit pass products," he said. "We have the monthly passes, the seniors' monthly passes, the summer savings passes, senior' summer savings passes and CNIB passes. We'll probably have a few winners based on the submissions. The Sarnia Transit staff will come together and kind of select their favourites to feature."
Individuals whose artwork is selected will be notified. Selections will also be posted to the City of Sarnia's social media pages.
