Brooke-Alvinston unwilling to host wind turbine development

Brooke-Alvinston has declared itself an unwilling host for a proposed wind turbine project.

Venfor Inc. wants to build up to 40 turbines, split between Brooke-Alvinston and neighbouring Adelaide Metcalfe.

Founding Shareholder Peter Budd had told Sarnia News Today the turbines will be spread out, and would add a combined 300 megawatts of power to the province's electricity grid.

During a recent special council meeting, the municipality passed a motion formally declaring its position, and resolved to withhold any resolution of support or municipal land approval required for the advancement of the project.

The clerk has been directed to forward council's resolution to the Ontario Ministry of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, as well as Venfor.
