Man faces charges after teen sexually assaulted

A 51-year-old man is accused of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at a high school in Sarnia's north end.

On September 15, Sarnia police were called about a man who had began showing up near the school, but not on the property.

It's alleged he initiated unsolicited and inappropriate conversations with girls about drugs and alcohol, and asked them to pose for pictures.

Police said the suspect continued to frequent the area, following female students as they left the school property.

A teen was left shaken after he allegedly groped one of them. A complaint was then made to police through the school administration. On September 16, the Sarnia Police Service's (SPS) Criminal Investigations Division arrested Jagjit Singh.

He's charged with sexual interference and sexual assault and was remanded into custody following a bail hearing.

Anyone with further information is asked to contact the SPS 519-344-8861.

Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Sarnia-Lambton Crime Stoppers at 519-332-TIPS (8477) or online at www.p3tips.com

Police said the school's name has been withheld to help protect the identity of the victim, and they can't rule out that other schools may have been involved.
