Sarnia police arrest Toronto-area alleged thieves

Two men from the Toronto area have been arrested after Sarnia police responded to a report of shoplifting.

On Saturday, officers were called to Quinn Drive after a man was seen placing stolen items into the trunk of a red SUV and covering the items with a stroller.

The man was placed under arrest after police searched his car and found substantial quantities of stolen goods.

The suspect did not act alone, and following further investigations, police arrested a second suspect who was attempting to flee the scene.

He allegedly resisted arrest.

Police returned the stolen items, around $1,300 worth of laundry detergent, back to the retailer.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old Toronto man and a 35-year-old Toronto man were held for bail after being charged with theft under $5,000, along with other related charges, including breach of probation and resisting arrest.
