In its news release, the hospital said Dr. Akhtar earned his medical degree from King Edward Medical University in Pakistan, before completing his internal medicine residency and fellowship in general internal medicine at McGill University. He pursued further fellowship training in infectious diseases at the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine and Science in Rochester, Minnesota, where he also served as an instructor in medicine.

Dr. Adam Miller completed his medical degree at McMaster University before pursuing an internal medicine residency at McGill University. He went on to complete residency and fellowship training in medical oncology at Queen’s University, where he also served as chief resident.

Dr. Sung is a familiar face around the hospital. He completed several clinical rotations at Bluewater Health, including hospitalist medicine, intensive care medicine, and emergency medicine. Dr. Sung recently completed his Family Medicine Residency at the Schulich School of Medicine and Dentistry at Western University, following his Doctor of Medicine at McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Medicine. He has a Bachelor of Medical Sciences from Western University, with an Honours Specialization in Physiology and Pharmacology.

Dr. Kylen Van Osch grew up in southwestern Ontario and said she has long been committed to returning to serve this community. She earned a Master of Science in Clinical Anatomy and her Doctor of Medicine at Western University, where she also completed her residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

Chief of Staff and Vice President of Medical Affairs Dr. Mike Haddad said the new physicians reflect Bluewater Health’s ongoing commitment to meeting the healthcare needs of our community.

“Drs. Akhtar, Miller, Sung, and Van Osch bring leading-edge training from across Canada and beyond, paired with a genuine commitment to compassion and community," Dr. Haddad said. "Their decision to practice here means Sarnia-Lambton residents can access advanced care, closer to home - and that’s something worth celebrating.”
