Drug, theft charges laid in SPS enforcement sweep

The Sarnia Police Service (SPS) made 22 arrests in a proactive enforcement sweep across the city on September 29.

That included 17 arrests for open drug use and possession of a controlled substance.

The initiative involved plain clothes investigators, uniformed officers, and special constables, and was coordinated by the Crime and Intelligence Unit.

Police said they were able to find people with outstanding warrants, ranging from break and enter to mischief and theft.

One person was located in medical distress, with police providing immediate first aid until EMS arrived.

Police said open and visible drug use within community parks and outside of local businesses presents a number of quality of life concerns for families, business owners, and those struggling with addiction.

More information about the arrests can be found on the Sarnia Police Service's website.
