A 28-year-old Sarnia man faces firearms charges after city police executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a Cameron Street home.
Officers with the Major Case Action Team (MCAT), with help from the Crime and Intelligence Unit, and Emergency Response Team (ERT) raided the home just before 8:30 p.m. Monday.
A search of a bedroom allegedly turned up pellet guns, a rocky mountain crossbow, a compound bow, a bolt action rifle (8mm Mauser), a .22 calibre rifle without stock, bear spray and ammunition.
Police said the suspect was serving a Conditional Sentence Order, which is a jail sentence served in the community rather than in an actual jail.
The conditions of this sentence included a requirement to not possess weapons and to keep the peace and be of good behavior. Jordan Martin was held for bail, and charged with the following offences:
- Unauthorized possession of a firearm X 2
- Knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm X 2
- Careless storage of a firearm X 2
- Careless storage of ammunition
Police are also looking into an allegation of breach of his Conditional Sentence Order.
Following his bail hearing, the court remanded Martin into custody.
