Officer seriously injured in Kettle Point

An Anishinabek police officer was seriously injured in Kettle Point.

An officer was attempting an arrest Saturday when they were seriously injured after being slashed in the face by the suspect.

“This incident is a stark reminder of the dangers our officers potentially encounter every time they don their uniform, often facing unpredictable situations,” said Anishinabek Police Service Acting Chief Julie Craddock.

The suspect then barricaded themselves inside a home with a shotgun.

“Chief Skye and I are deeply grateful for their professionalism and dedication,” said Craddock.

The officer was transported to a hospital and has since been released.
