Youth arrested after couple threatened with a weapon

A Sarnia teen, who was out on bail for weapons and drug charges, has been arrested once again.

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, police were called to Exmouth Street, near London Line, for reports of a weapons offence.

The caller said he and his girlfriend were at a social gathering when they encountered a 17-year-old male who was intoxicated and argumentative.

As they tried to leave in their vehicle, police said the suspect asked for a ride to a separate address to confront another individual, but they refused.

Police said the suspect allegedly pointed a black pistol at the victims, who immediately drove off in fear for their safety. The youth was arrested at a separate address later in the evening.

Police said the suspect was subject to house arrest and a no weapons condition after being arrested in February.

He was held for bail on the following charges:

- Unauthorized possession of a firearm

- Assault with a weapon

- Pointing a Firearm

- Carrying a concealed weapon

- Failure to comply with a release order (two counts)

Following his bail hearing, the court remanded him into custody.

Police said the firearm has not yet been recovered.

The youth cannot be named under the provisions of Section 110 of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
