Average asking rents across Canada fell last month in most cities, but not in Windsor or Sarnia.
The average rent in Windsor for a one-bedroom unit was $1,618, according to Rentals.ca, up five per cent from a year ago. While in Sarnia, the average rent on a single bedroom apartment rose 1.9 per cent to $1,570.
Among 60 markets studied, Windsor ranked 45th, Sarnia 47th, and London 34th for average rents.
London's average rent was $1,744, down two per cent.
Across Canada, Rental.ca said rents for a one-bedroom apartment fell 0.4 per cent, 3.7 per cent for condominiums, and six per cent for a home or townhome. In Ontario, the monthly rent dropped 5.1 per cent, 5.3 per cent in Alberta, and 5.7 per cent in British Columbia.
North Vancouver had the highest rent in the country at $2,627 for a one-bedroom apartment. Toronto was fourth highest at $2,286, and St. John's, Newfoundland had the lowest at $1,023, down 0.6 per cent.
