Inn of the Good Shepherd names new executive director

The Inn of the Good Shepherd has chosen its next executive director to replace Myles Vanni who is retiring after 20 years.

The charitable organization said Jack Christine will transition into the role starting on November 3, 2025. Vanni will remain with the organization until early 2026 to assist with the process.

Christine joins the Inn of the Good Shepherd from River Kids, a charity based in Scotland which supports disadvantaged children and families.

He has 15 years of senior management experience, including nine years leading nonprofit organizations, and his background includes community services, healthcare, retail, and technology.

The Inn said a highlight of Christine's tenure at River Kids was revitalizing the annual Christmas Toy Appeal, which, in 2023, rallied community support and provided gifts to more than 3,200 children.

He said he's thrilled to be part of the Inn team.

"I am honoured to step into this role and continue the vital work of The Inn of the Good Shepherd," said Christine. "Myles has left an inspiring legacy of compassion and innovation, and I am committed to building on that foundation. I look forward to working closely with him during this transition, and to collaborating with our dedicated staff, volunteers, and community partners. Together, we can ensure everyone in Sarnia-Lambton has access to the support they need to thrive."

Vanni said he's confident the transition will be a smooth one.

"Passing the torch to Jack is the right next step for The Inn. He brings a powerful mix of strategic expertise, leadership experience, and a fresh perspective that will undoubtedly guide the organization to new heights. I am excited to see how Jack will build upon the work we've done and continue to serve our community with dignity and care."

Board of Directors Chair Liz Koetzier praised the selection.

"Jack stood out among a strong pool of candidates for his strategic vision and extensive experience in both financial oversight and community-based program development," said Koetzier. "We are confident he will be an exceptional leader and a powerful advocate for those we serve."

The Inn serves thousands of individuals and families each year, offering services including a food bank, soup kitchen, Mobile Market, income tax clinics, emergency shelters for men, women, and families, transitional housing, rent and utility assistance, clothing programs, and support for children and youth.
