The Petrolia and Area Kiwanis Club is helping the community get into the Halloween spirit this week.
It's hoped at least 1,000 pumpkins will be on display Friday through Sunday for the popular Fiery Faces event, taking place at the Petrolia Discovery Boom Town.
It's from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. each night, and there's also a new haunted house to enjoy, courtesy of the Wyoming Legion.
The Wyoming Scouts will be supplying hot beverages, and there will be live entertainment.
Co-organizer Cheryl Veary said admission is free, but the Kiwanis club will be accepting donations.
"People are welcome to put donations in the bucket, if they can," said Veary. "We raise money by doing pumpkin sponsors, so we put a name or logo on a pumpkin. We just put a splashpad in in Petrolia, we do the Dolly Parton imagination library, and we contribute to the community refrigerator. We help with school scholarships, skate and swim free days, we sponsor a royal tea party at the YMCA and various other things through the year."
There's a community pumpkin carving night on Thursday at the Discovery site, and every creation will be added to the display.
Family fun day takes place on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the town's YMCA and features games, crafts, pumpkin carving and the 'Gunk N Dunk'.
