UPDATED:No injuries in early morning fire

Sarnia Fire Rescue battled a house fire early Friday morning.

Firefighters responded to a structure fire call just after 4:30 a.m. on Richard Street near Emma Street.

Quick response by firefighters limited the majority of fire damage to the rear exterior of the two-storey home.

Fire officials said the blaze originated in the rear deck area, however the specific cause is still under investigation.

No injuries are reported and officials said everyone made it out of the home safely.

Damage is estimated at around $80,000.

Sarnia police said the investigation began on May 29 after the victim was allegedly attacked by acquaintances at a residence near Tashmoo Avenue and Christopher Drive at Aamjiwnaang First Nation.
